Location: The successful candidate may be based in a country where one of the independent National/Regional Greenpeace organisations (NRO’s) is located (subject to agreement). See the locations here. Greenpeace International is looking for an experienced Information Security Officer to join our team, reporting to our Chief Technology Officer.

The Information Security Officer will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of a comprehensive information security program for Greenpeace International, in order to provide and recommend adequate measures to ensure Greenpeace International and our National and Regional offices adequately protect information with regards to, but not limited to, staff, actions, supporters, financial records and campaign plans.

The Information Security & Data Protection Officer will also ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and processes the personal data of our staff, supporters, providers or any other individuals in compliance with the applicable data protection rules.

Job requirements

  • Degree in computer science or a technology-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Professional information security certification such as CISA, CRISC, CIPP, CPIM, Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection.
  • Demonstrable substantial experience gained within a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of various information security frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a culturally diverse international environment.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written and preferably one other language.
  • Preferably experience with working in a federated organization.
  • Demonstrable support and belief in the core aims and values of Greenpeace.
