ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Justice & Peace Netherlands is a human rights organisation based in The Hague, Netherlands that focuses on empowering people who stand up for human rights and a sustainable world. In 2012, we founded Shelter City, a global movement of safe spaces that provide support to human rights defenders at risk. We are also building the community sponsorship movement Samen Hier to connect local citizens to welcome refugees in their city. We are looking for a Communications trainee to join our team and support the implementation of a new branding for Shelter City, the creation of engaging content (photography, video, posts, news articles), (social) media monitoring, the promotion of events, & other activities. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

This is a ESC traineeship, and not a ESC volunteer position. Therefore board and lodging will not be covered by the programme. The trainee will be expected to find and pay for their own accommodation and daily needs. You will receive a monthly remuneration (ā‚¬355,56 per month) and a small daily stipend for each day you are in the Netherlands for this traineeship. You will receive additional health insurance (Cigna), a Youthpass Certificate, financial support for travel to and from the Netherlands, and reimbursement for daily commute in the Netherlands. TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

You will receive on the job training, close mentoring, and Online Linguistic Support. You will also have a workplace at our office in The Hague city centre, enjoy a nice atmosphere in a small dedicated team, where working hard and having fun go hand-in-hand, and the opportunity to meet with and learn about international human rights defenders and many organisations and institutions working in the field of human rights, development, and migration. PARTICIPANT PROFILE

– At least a third year student Bachelor level in Media/Communications (or similar), or a discipline related to (international) human rights and experience with communications; – Demonstrable skills in writing and content creation, working with programmes such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (basic level); – Excellent oral and written skills in English and preferably a second language, such as French, Spanish or Russian; – Creative, results-oriented, takes initiative, positive, flexible, stress resistant, professional, team player, open minded.
