In the current uncertain political and social context that affects young people, they can be powerful catalysts for positive change and contributors of innovative solutions to Europe’s challenges.
The position
Following the announcement made by President Ursula von der Leyen, 2022 will be the European Year of Youth. In order to drive some of the main activities we are recruiting a European Year of Youth Coordinator. The successful candidate will work in the Strategic and Partnership Department, closely collaborating with the Internal Excellence and External Affairs Departments, and will report to the Fundraising Coordinator.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Overall coordination of the European Youth Forum’s activities during the European Year of Youth 2022 – including liaising with European and other institutional stakeholders as needed to deliver on the project.
Project-manage the Youth Democracy Festival (planned for Autumn 2022), with at least 1000 participants.
Coordinate 20+ high-level engagements (with Commissioners) and several smaller mini-events.
Support the work of the EU Policy and Advocacy Manager with advocacy coordination around the European Year of Youth.
Provide support in fundraising for activities implemented as part of the European Year of Youth with a special focus on attracting corporate sponsorship.
Provide support to the communications team in writing content to communicate about the European year of youth.
PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A proven track record of successfully managing and delivering a variety of events with 100s of participants – preferably including those aimed at a youth audience.
Experience working on the design and implementation of complex projects, including the ability to manage a budget of at least 300k EUR.
Previous experience in managing external consultants is an asset.
Knowledge of EU institutions is an asset.
Creative mind and out-of-the-box ideas to bring in new funding sources to the organisation with a special focus on corporate sponsorship.
Previous fundraising experience is an asset, ideally in event sponsorship.
Experience in communicating and working with stakeholders at all levels is required.
Proactive, critical, flexible and solution oriented.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team on a common project.
Ability to work under pressure, manage challenging workload and tight deadlines.
Demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills in stressful situations.
Languages: Strong oral and written English is required, French is a definite asset

TERMS OF THE CONTRACT
We offer a 12 months, full time (35 hours per week) contract. The gross monthly salary according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement currently applied at the European Youth Forum is €3,200.
A relocation package, hospitalisation insurance and other benefits are available. Travel expenses within the Brussels region are covered by the European Youth Forum.
Candidates to this position should be willing to travel and work flexible hours including if required occasional weekends.
Candidates have to have the right to work in Belgium.
This position being based in Brussels, candidates should be willing to relocate or live in the surrounding area.
