Finance Group

The purpose of the Finance Group is to lead and develop the organization’s finance strategy and practice. The core functions of the Finance Group are to:

The Project Finance Intern reports to the Project Finance Specialist who provides broad supervision and guidance to the Project Finance team. The Project Finance Intern will support the team on a wide range of finance processes, having hands-on practical daily work and operations as well as being on the front line with internal and external parties such as colleagues in HQ and in the field offices. The Finance Intern will be responsible for delivering the assigned tasks in a collaborative, timely and efficient manner. The Finance Intern will have great opportunities for learning and expanding knowledge and experience within the areas of finance as well as process improvements and system developments.  

 Functional Responsibilities

1.    SUPPORT THE Policy Setting, Reporting and Compliance related activities 

  • Support the different teams on a wide range of tasks related to analysis of financial data.  
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and yearly closure exercise in regards to data collection, review and analysis.  
  • Assists with compilation, consolidation and reporting of data. Communicates with colleagues/clients on areas requiring verification, corrections, additional information. 
  • Assists with the audit and verification exercises related to client projects; reviews supporting documents ensuring completeness and accuracy.  
  • Provides support on ad-hoc matters.  

2.    ASSIST IN FINANCE RELATED KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES 

  • Assists with the development of training materials and guidance notes.  
  • Supports with system development and process improvement initiatives 

3. TAKE PART TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TEAM PROJECTS  

  • Provide support in the development of finance innovative solutions 
  • Support the development and maintenance of the unit’s intranet page

Training components and learning elements

The intern will be a part of the team and will be exposed to learning on the job on a daily basis. Time shall be allocated for the understanding of UNOPS functioning, policy framework, cost recovery strategy, funds implementation areas, etc. 

The intern shall be trained to operate ERP, utilize reporting platforms, understand organizational KPI interpretation, etc. 

Participation in missions or training courses

 The intern will be able to participate in other trainings offered by UNOPS. Specific trainings of interest will be discussed with the intern upon arrival. No official travel for a mission is foreseen. 
 Education/Experience/Language requirements

1. Academic qualifications 

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a university degree such as a Bachelor, Masters, or have graduated within three years prior to the application date of the internship.  
  • The preferred candidate would have a degree in or pursuing studies in the areas of finance, economics, business, accounting, administration, management, international relations or other related areas. 

2. Language Skills

  • Full working knowledge of English 
  • Desirable working knowledge of French and/or Spanish
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset 

3. Computer Literacy

  • Experience in office software packages (word, power point) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet (Excel) 
  • Experience in use of ERP system is an asset 
  • Experience in use of SharePoint is an asset

Dans le cadre du partenariat entre l’UNICEF et KOICA (coopération Coréenne) pour l’amélioration des capacités et qualité des sous-secteurs de l’éducation de la petite enfance et pré-primaire, l’UNOPS sera responsable du volet infrastructure. Ce volet portera sur la construction de 8 cases de tout-petits dans les départements de Louga et Dagana.

 Functional Responsibilities
Sous la supervision directe du Chef du Projet et de l’Ingénieur principal, le/la stagiaire conducteur(trice) de travaux participera à l’exécution du projet et à la réception des travaux sur le terrain en veillant au contrôle de la qualité des installations de chantier et des travaux.

Il participera à la coordination des travaux de construction, contribuera au  progrès et à la mise en œuvre du projet et participera dans la prise de décision dans toutes les étapes de la mise en œuvre.

  • Exécuter toute autre tâche technique selon les directives du chef de projet;  
  • Participer au suivi des prestataires/entreprises retenus pour la réalisation des travaux des corps d’état architecturaux et  secondaires (courant fort,courant faible,plomberie,sécurité-incendie,etc.) ;
  • Analyser la conformité des propositions des entrepreneurs par rapport aux Spécifications Techniques et les modalités de mise en œuvre adoptées et le cas échéant, faire les recommandations de procédés plus adéquats;
  • Définir et contrôler les programmes d’essais et tests requis pour l’évaluation de la qualité des travaux;
  • Assister dans l’évaluation des différentes phases de mise en œuvre et partager les leçons apprises avec les membres de l’équipe de gestion et le chef de projet;

Background of Partnerships and Liaison Group

The Partnerships and Liaison Group (PLG) supports UNOPS efforts to build closer ties with partners across the full spectrum of UNOPS activities. By forging strategic relationships and working with partners, both in the field and at headquarters, PLG seeks to not only ensure high partners satisfaction with UNOPS project implementation and support, but also to integrate best practices and innovative solutions from experienced non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private sector, governments and other UN agencies into UNOPS operations.  Functional Responsibilities
Bajo la supervisión del encargado/a del área de apoyo específica (Soporte Transversal, Gerente de Proyecto TIC), el/la Pasante, será responsable de realizar las siguientes actividades, sin limitarse exclusivamente a ellas:

  • Total aceptación de las regulaciones de UNOPS, sobre los procesos financieros, procesos de adquisiciones, de apoyo operativo, técnico, y reportes de acuerdo a cada área.

Educación

  • Título a nivel diversificado (escuela secundaria) es requerido.
  • Se requiere estar cursando los últimos ciclos o ser egresado/a de las carreras de Ingeniería de Sistemas Informáticos, Informática, Ciencias de la Computación o carreras afines a nivel de licenciatura, maestría o doctorado.
  • Se valorará aportar título universitario a nivel de licenciatura, maestría o doctorado máximo tres (3) años de graduado/a al momento de aplicar.

Experiencia laboral

  • No requiere aportar experiencia profesional.
  • Será altamente valorado haber realizado otras pasantías o voluntariados, de preferencia en las áreas de Informática.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the UNOPS Integrated Practice Advice and Support (IPAS)serves all the regions and headquarters, primarily with advice and solutions to everyday implementation challenges. IPAS consists of a diverse team of subject matter experts in the six practice areas of HR, Administration, Legal, Finance, Procurement, Project Management and Infrastructure.
