ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Chiro Flanders is the biggest youth movement in Flanders, the Dutch speaking region of Belgium. Chiro Flanders will organise several international youth exchanges in 2022: EuroCourse: a training course for European youth leaders. Krinkel: the biggest event of Chiro Flanders, a national camp of 6 days including an international campground. World Camp: a camp of 3 weeks with 70 youth leaders from all over the world, organised by our international umbrella FIMCAP in Botswana. As assistant you will be involved in the organisation of these international youth exchanges. You will join the group of volunteers that is preparing these exchanges and take part in their meetings. You will help in the development of the program and take up administrative tasks. You will help in the follow-up and closing of the projects. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
You are responsible for your own accommodation and food. Every month you will receive money from the ESC program, which can be spend according to your preferences. Should the costs of the accommodation be higher than the given funds, you will have to contribute yourself. There will be two ESC volunteers working at Chiro Flanders for the same period. You can decide to share accommodation or to live separately. The Chiro office is located in the center of Antwerp, one of the main cities in Belgium. There is a variety of student flats and co-housing projects available.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
You will work in close cooperation with a staff member of Chiro Flanders who will coach you in your tasks. Each exchange project has its own group of volunteers, which you will be part of. There will be the possibility to take part in one of the regional training courses for Chiro leaders.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
You are between 18 and 30 years old. Good knowledge of English. Ability to work, write and speak in English. Willingness to learn Dutch. Having a background in a youth movement or in youth work will be an added value. Playing is an important part in our work and in our projects. You have to be able to work independently, making your own planning and setting your own goals, which will be discussed with the staff member in regular meetings. We expect openness and respect to other views.
