TUITION FEES AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Haaga-Helia UAS will charge a tuition fee from a student accepted to a degree programme taught in English. The tuition fee includes teaching and access to the learning facilities and the student Library. As a student at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences you have access to Student Services and ICT services will also be at your disposal to support your studies. A tuition fee is applicable if you are not a citizen of a country of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

THE TUITION FEE IS

♦ EUR 8,500.00 per academic year for Bachelor of Business Administration programmes, and

♦ EUR 9,500.00 per academic year for Bachelor of Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Sports Studies programmes as well as all the Master’s degree programmes taught in English.

Please note that housing costs, meal plans or health insurance are not included in the tuition fee. So, make sure you have enough financial means to pay your rent, personal expenses, transportation costs, meals, insurance etc.

Finnish immigration service requires that you have at least EUR 560 at your disposal every month to be able to pay for your accommodation, food and other needs. So, in addition to the tuition fee you must have EUR 6,720 to be able to study in Finland for a year and to get a residence permit in Finland.  More information about income requirement for students is available at Finnish immigration service´s website.

Exemption from tuition fees

You are exempted from paying tuition fees if you have one of the following documents:

Passport or identity card to indicate the citizenship of EU/EEA/Switzerland

EU Blue Card in Finland

Continuous residence permit card in Finland, Type A permit

EU Family Member’s Residence Card in Finland

Permanent residence permit card in Finland, Type P permit

EU residence permit for third-country citizens with long-term residence permit card in Finland (Type P-EU).

Haaga-Helia adheres to the nationwide policy, where the exemption from the tuition fee depends on the status of the residence permit on 1 August in the autumn term and 1 January in the spring term. If the residence permit is valid on 1 August, no payment is required for the autumn term. If the residence permit is valid on 1 January, no payment is required for the spring term. If you have applied for residence permit but have not received the decision by the date when the tuition fee is due, you will have to pay the fee.

If you have Finnish citizenship, you do not have to send a copy of your passport or identity card (Haaga-Helia UAS can verify the Finnish citizenship from the Population Register Centre).

HideSpring 2020 application period

Students must accept the study place in Studyinfo and pay the tuition fee for the first semester by 10 July 2020 at 15.00 EET (GMT/UTC +2 hours) at the latest.

In case you cannot pay the entire tuition fee for the semester in one payment, due to restrictions in bank transfer system, the tuition fee can be paid in instalments, i.e. in smaller sums.

You cannot enroll for the autumn semester 2020 before the full tuition fee is paid and all the documents are submitted to the Admission Services.

The admission of a student is conditional until

♦ you have confirmed the study place

♦ the tuition fee for the first semester is fully paid

♦ you have enrolled as attending/non-attending student

♦ you have signed the Student Agreement and

♦ Haaga-Helia UAS has received the receipt of the tuition fee and checked your original school and other relevant certificates.

Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences will withdraw the admission in case the applicant does not provide the above mentioned documents by the given deadline, or if he/she has given inadequate or false information.

A student is expected to pay a tuition fee for each academic semester or year attended and must finance his/her costs of living.

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT

An applicant who accepts the offered study place within 14 days and pays the tuition fee for the first semester within 30 days of receiving the acceptance notification, will be given an Early Bird discount. The Early Bird discount is a 25% reduction of the first semester’s tuition fee. The acceptance email from Haaga-Helia will include detailed instructions for payment.

Please note that in order to qualify for the Early Bird discount, an applicant must meet both of the deadlines i.e. study place acceptance within 14 days and payment of tuition fee within 30 days.

You cannot enroll for the spring semester 2021 before the full tuition fee is paid and all the documents are submitted to the Admission Services.

HideScholarship System in Haaga-Helia UAS

A scholarship system is available in Haaga-Helia UAS in every Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programme subjected with tuition fees.

Scholarships can be awarded to a degree students who are admitted to the abovementioned degree programmes in Haaga-Helia UAS and who are studying in Finland.

A scholarship which covers 20 % of the cost of the annual tuition fee

Can be awarded to a Bachelor level student who has completed 55 ECTS credits during two consecutive academic semesters in Haaga-Helia UAS. Student is eligible to apply three times for a scholarship based on study progress during his/her studies.

A scholarship which covers 30 % of the cost of the last annual tuition fee

Can be awarded to a Bachelor level student completing the degree in six academic semesters or less

or

to a Master level student completing the degree in three academic semesters or less.

Scholarships are not available for students who are studying the first academic year in Haaga-Helia UAS, unless a student is graduating in two academic semesters or sooner.
