The Symposium is a platform for connecting leaders on China, across generations and across disciplines. It will help connect you with inspiring, like-minded peers as well as leading experts who share your interest in China. These interactions will take place at Peking University, China’s top university.

+ WHAT IF I CAN ONLY ATTEND PART OF YGS?

Due to the large number of students interested in attending YGS, only delegates who are available for all three days (April 16-18, 2021) will be selected to attend the online event.

If your availability changes, please let us know immediately.

+ CAN I ATTEND YGS AGAIN IF I WAS PREVIOUSLY A YGS DELEGATE?

+ HOW WILL YGS DELEGATES BE SELECTED?

We aim to recruit a diverse group of delegates from around the world and from a different disciplines. We are looking for enthusiasm and motivation for the Symposium’s theme and vision. If you are selected as a delegate, the Yenching Global Symposium will cover all expenses related to the online event.

Special assistance will be provided for participants with special needs.

+ WHAT KIND OF DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR THE YGS?

We require you to submit a CV and the completed online application form. Please see the full application page for complete details.

+ ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE, AND I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY ENGLISH STANDARDIZED TESTS EITHER. CAN I STILL APPLY?

You can surely apply without any standardized test’s score and might consider mentioning how many years you have learned/used English, whether it is the language of your instruction at some or all courses in your study program, if you have written academic papers in English, or if English is your working language. The quality of your responses can also testify to your English proficiency.

If you are selected, we might request you to send a confirmation from, e.g, your coordinator/director of studies that the language of instruction in your program is English to make sure that you are well-versed in spoken English as well.

+ CAN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS APPLY TO BE YGS DELEGATES?

Unfortunately, no. Only young professionals holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher and graduate students (post-graduate/Master’s degree and higher) are eligible to apply to the YGS. In countries where Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are combined, delegates need to have been enrolled at a university for more than four years, i.e., be at least in your fifth year of studies. For full elibility requirements, please read the Apply page.

+ WILL I RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION MESSAGE AFTER SUBMITTING MY APPLICATION?

The confirmation message appears immediately on the applicants’ browsers after they click “submit”. There is no other confirmation email.

Due to the huge amount of applications, we cannot give feedback to unsuccessful applicants. Decisions of the Executive Committee are final and not subject to any further appeal.

+ CAN I PAY TO ATTEND THE YGS?

All YGS delegates have been and will be selected based on merit. High qualified participants attend a wide range of YGS activities regardless of their financial capability. Unfortunately, there is no possibility of paying to attend the YGS, but rejected applicants may consider applying next year.
