- Job DescriptionEmbry-Riddle Aeronautical University Sports Medicine is looking for a fellowship for Spring 2021. This is an excellent opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to expand their academic knowledge by gaining hands-on experience while under the guidance of five full-time staff athletic trainers. Embry-Riddle Athletics boasts 20 intercollegiate sports teams and approximately 450 athletes. Embry-Riddle is a NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference. This position offers a well-rounded experience. Fellows will be assigned primary sport coverage of one (1) sports team per a semester, while also assisting with other teams. Fellows will assist with the daily maintenance and operations of the athletic training room, attend training room doctor rounds as well as other physician visits, learn the fundamentals of insurance, work and communicate with coaches and strength & conditioning staff, and attend educational in-services. Other educational opportunities provided are shadowing in a physical therapy clinic, surgery observation, attending chiropractic appointments, sports nutritionist, and other industry related in-services.
This fellowship is non-salary, however intern will be compensated at a rate of $1,450 per month to offset their living expenses. In addition, this internship provides a University meal plan. The internship will end in mid to late May after completing post-season. Housing and health insurance are not included.QualificationsRequired qualifications include graduation from a CAATE accredited athletic training program, and BOC certified or eligible. Florida licensing will be provided if applicable. Professional liability insurance will also be provided.
