Female Design Council and NICOLEHOLLIS are pleased to announce the FDC + NICOLEHOLLIS Grant, a dedicated financial grant for BIPOC female-identified designers and architects. Female Design Council and NICOLEHOLLIS recognize the importance of supporting female-identified creatives, and have pledged to provide direct funding and mentorship to BIPOC women through this unique interior design and architecture grant.
The FDC + NICOLEHOLLIS Grant will award one $15,000 USD financial grant to a WOC-led interior design/architecture firm or individual in the United States. The grant is intended to provide the necessary financial support to expand company size and/or produce new design collections. Grant winners will also receive professional mentorship from the NICOLEHOLLIS team.
Grant 02: FDC+NH is the second FDC grant in our Grant series started in 2020 to tackle the lack of diversity being shown in the design industry. The FDC + NICOLEHOLLIS Grant is part of the Female Design Council’s ongoing investment to empower and support women of color in design and provide a platform for young people to see themselves through successful role models as well as have a network of other creatives supporting their growth. The inaugural juried grant, GRANT 01, was designed to support the ideas of Black women designers in the United States with two $2,500 USD financial grants (in partnership with BZIPPY & Incollect) to provide emerging designers with the financial resources to bring their idea into prototyping and/or production.
The FDC + NICOLEHOLLIS Grant was funded by a NICOLEHOLLIS auction held in April 2021, with generous participation from renown galleries such as Friedman Benda, Gallery FUMI, The Future Perfect, Jessica Silverman, Cristina Grajales and others. We are so thankful to our community for coming together to support our ongoing FDC programs, and we could not be more excited by NICOLEHOLLIS’s commitment to supporting diverse female-identified persons in design and architecture.
“OUR INDUSTRY NEEDS A FAR MORE DIVERSE SET OF VOICES, AND WE WANT TO DO OUR PART TO BOLSTER NEW PERSPECTIVES IN DESIGN,” SAID NICOLE HOLLIS, CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND PRINCIPAL OF NICOLEHOLLIS. “OUR SINCERE HOPE IS THAT THIS GRANT WILL SUPPORT THE SUSTAINED GROWTH OF ONE PROMISING EMERGING STUDIO, ONE THAT WE CAN WATCH THRIVE FOR YEARS TO COME.”
