ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Job description • Coordination of volunteers: o Incorporation of new volunteers in the team o Organization of volunteering activities (weekly planning of the volunteers’ team; coordination of translation documents when needed; training…) o Coordination of the administration-related documents of the volunteers • Coordinate the information activity at the Arrival Centre in Brussels and other relevant places; • Monitor situation on the ground, collect data and prepare situation reports. Coordination of the drafting of reports; • Organize team building activities of the volunteers’ group; • Develop activities for social cohesion; • Keep updated educational tools for awareness raising sessions on asylum and migration for the Belgian public and conduct these sessions; • Networking with other civil society organisations; • Any other related relevant task. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteer will be able to freeely choose from among our accommodation options, but many choose to stay in Brussels under Euroepan Solidarity Corps (ESC) conditions, and is lodged by Flemish Refugee Action that is located just a 5 minute subway ride away from the historical centre of Brussels.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
At the start, intercultural training will be part of the training organised by JINT. Intercultural encounters being essential in the project, it will remain a subject in feedback sessions and evaluations. Internal training is being periodically set up to keep staff and volunteers steady on track with these regulations. Every new staff member and volunteers receive an introduction training and folder with essential information on the organization (mission, vision, workplace rules…) More training can be provided and organised by Vluchtelingenwerk or external organisations during the year.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
• Degree in social sciences, human rights, international relations; • Basic knowledge in asylum matters in Europe and understanding of the European context. • Understanding of the role of civil society in migration issues • Eager to learn and adapt to the Belgian legal and political situation • Strong written and oral English skills • Analytical skills • Team player • Good listener and strong communication skills • Gender sensitive • Proactive and solution-oriented • Flexible • Planning and Organizational skills; • Preferably multilingual in addition to English.
