CALL FOR EXPERTS – Environmental measurements and assessments for the bioeconomy
ECOS is looking for experts in the field of environmental assessments of bio-based products and processes (including LCA and carbon accounting) to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide us with technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.
Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate in-depth technical / scientific knowledge in the topic area. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental NGO values and have proven written and oral communication and negotiation skills. Experience with and understanding of the policy context and standardisation developments in the subject area will be considered a strong asset. Fluency in English and willingness to travel are required.
In addition to the core topics of environmental footprint assessments, knowledge of at least one of the following topics is desirable: circularity and resource efficiency, carbon accounting and carbon storage of forestry and agricultural systems (including also soil carbon) and products, carbon flows between the biosphere and the technosphere, biodiversity and ecosystem impacts, end-of-life impacts, monitoring of land use changes and forest harvesting using remote sensing tools.
Knowledge of measurement and assessment of environmental performance for the bioeconomy in one or more of the following sectors and applications is needed: forestry and agriculture including for food/feed, energy, and/or bio-based materials used for textiles, plastics, construction products and/or chemistry.
The nominated experts will:
- Participate in relevant technical meetings of CEN and ISO to promote ECOS position;
- Prepare technical input through official comments and position papers;
- Report to and liaise with the relevant ECOS Programme Manager;
- As requested exchange information with ECOS member organisations and other experts.
ECOS offers:
- A daily fee for preparation of meetings, participation and reporting (and for other relevant tasks);
- Reimbursement of travel costs;
- Per diem to cover accommodation and subsistence costs.

CALL FOR EXPERTS – Construction products
ECOS is looking for experts in the field of construction products to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide us with technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.
Making sustainable and circular construction products the norm is at the core of ECOS’ work on buildings. For its ongoing standardisation work at product level and upcoming activities under the revised Construction Product Regulation, ECOS is seeking support for our work as part of standardisation body CEN and for our engagement with EU institutions to deliver a sustainable built environment.
Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge on construction products, as well as professional experience with issues linked to sustainability of construction works related to use of construction products, across one or more of the following areas:
- circularity (reuse, circularity requirements and their assessment methodologies)
- the Construction Product Regulation (CPR), its implementation, and links with national building codes,
- construction product environmental footprint and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) including their use across key product categories.
The nominated experts will:
- Participate in technical meetings of CEN (with a specific focus on TC 350/WG3) to promote ECOS position;
- Prepare technical input through official comments and contribution to ECOS position papers;
- Report to and liaise with the responsible ECOS Programme Manager;
- Exchange information with ECOS member organisations and other experts when needed.
ECOS offers:
- A daily fee for preparation of meetings, participation and reporting, and/or other technical work;
- Reimbursement of travel costs;
- Per diem to cover accommodation and subsistence costs.
